Concept Testing & Development
An essential tool for bringing new medical products and services to market.
Turning insights into innovation
At IDR Medical, we help clients capture user needs and requirements, and advise how to integrate them into the design and development of new medical devices or services. By leveraging deep customer and market insights, we shape realistic innovation trajectories that guide the success of your products, brands, and business.
Defining the Target Product Profile
At IDR Medical, we work closely with clients to develop market research materials that clearly and comprehensively convey the key features and benefits of the concept, product or service.
This may involve shaping a concept from a high-level idea, refining R&D designs, or adapting marketing and sales materials. Our goal is to ensure that the information presented to potential users and purchasers is optimised, enabling reliable and actionable customer feedback.

Our concept development and testing testing services are structured into 4 distinct offerings, each supporting clients at critical stages of the product development processes:
1. Exploratory Tests
Conducted early in development, once unmet needs have been identified, these tests assess the potential of preliminary product or service designs. Typically qualitative, exploratory research may include stakeholder interviews or observational studies with target users.
2. Assessment Tests
3. Confirmation Tests
Performed later in the development process, confirmation tests ensure the final product or service meets its design and usability goals. These may include usability or performance testing and are often used when localising a product for a new market. Methods can be either qualitative or quantitative.
4. Comparison Tests
Used at any stage of development, comparison tests evaluate a concept or product element against an alternative, whether a competitor’s solution, an existing product, or an alternate design. Both qualitative and quantitative methodologies can be applied.
